Mine’s a dude who left an abusive home with the family Cyndaquil. He made it past the Elite Four by age 15 only to have his title ripped away at 22. He had no real skills beyond training and struggled to keep his team fed/housed after that.

I didn’t have room to mention the part where his Nidoking develops cancer but could be cured if the treatment wasn’t out of his price range, or where the Dragonite goes blind, or where he tries to eventually force his team to leave so they can find people to take care of them better, and they refuse because curling up together under a bridge is better than being apart.

… I… I love being mean to my characters. Am I a bad person?
